Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to get started?

An afternoon, self-serve. Sign up, move your book in (every export from your old system at once — you review a staged report before anything commits, with a 30-day undo), connect the accounts you already own, and you're working. No implementation consultants.

How does moving my book over work?

Drop in everything your old system exports — customers, policies, notes, drivers, vehicles, pipeline. Dax classifies the files, stages every row, and shows you a migration report: exact counts in vs. filed, automatic links, and every exception listed for one-click resolution. Nothing commits until you approve it, notes keep their original dates, and one click rolls the entire migration back for 30 days.

How do carrier downloads work?

You connect your agency's own IVANS mailbox — your account, your carrier authorizations, your (usually zero) cost; carriers set up download free when you request it. From then on, everything carriers push overnight files itself: policies, endorsements, renewals, cancellations, claims, and commission statements. Anything ambiguous waits in a review queue instead of being guessed.

Are the e-signatures legally binding?

Dax's e-sign is built around the federal ESIGN Act and UETA principles: affirmative consent, tamper-evident sealed documents, per-signature verification IDs, and a complete audit trail (who signed, when, from where, plus every view and download) with a certificate page. As with any e-signature tool, you decide whether e-signature suits a particular document and jurisdiction.

How do calling and texting work?

Your agency connects its own Twilio number in Settings. Clicking Call rings your cell first, then bridges to the client from the agency number — your personal cell stays private. Recordings (per your agency's policy) and speaker-labeled transcripts file to the customer's documents. Texts thread on the customer profile and in a team inbox. Dax adds zero markup; Twilio bills you directly at their rates.

Can I bring my own rater?

Yes. Connect your own rater license (EZLynx, PL Rating, TurboRater, Tarmika, and more) and quote from inside the platform — including your top five rates displayed right on the customer's profile. Dax never resells or marks up rating.

How does the AI document reading work?

Upload a declarations page or policy PDF — or a photo — and Dax extracts the policyholder and coverage details, prefills the record, and files the document to the right customer. You always review every field before saving; it's never a black box.

Is my data secure?

Security is built in from day one: encryption in transit and at rest, application-level encryption on the most sensitive fields and credentials, strict per-agency isolation enforced at the database level, cryptographically verified webhooks, and full audit logging. Visit our Trust Center for the complete picture, including what's live versus planned.

Do I own my data? Can I export it?

Always. Your book is yours — that's in our Terms. Export whenever you want; there's no lock-in and no holding your business hostage.

Which email providers do you support?

Both Outlook / Microsoft 365 and Gmail / Google Workspace. Dax turns client email and attachments into tasks and filed documents with insurance-only filtering you control, and sends your agency's automated emails from your own mailbox.

Can my whole team use it?

Yes. The Agency plan adds roles, team permissions, and advanced security controls for agencies running a full staff — and each agent connects their own inbox, rater, and cell number.

What does the beta cost?

Nothing — beta agencies use everything free. The only costs are the third-party accounts you already own (your IVANS, rater, and phone number usage, billed by those vendors directly).
